Disturbing Video Shows Instant Officers Suffer Blade Attacks in Surprise Attack
A police sergeant who rushed to the assistance of a colleague that was assaulted by a knifeman was granted the Monarch's Honor for Courage.
Sergeant Tim Ansell grappled with 27-year-old Jacob Brown subsequent to he pressed a knife to the neck of his colleague Sgt Marc Foster.
Brown began the violence as the law enforcement personnel and their colleague, PC Marcus Wolstencroft, were conversing to a motorist subsequent to a vehicle incident in the area in summer 2023.
Brown attacked with blade both Sergeant Ansell and Sgt Foster prior to PC Wolstencroft incapacitated him with a stun gun.
"Policeman knifed," the officer could be heard saying over his radio.
Officer-mounted and dashboard camera video released by the police department depicted Brown, who was dressed in dark clothing with a head covered, rush to Sgt Foster from the rear with a weapon outstretched.
He ran into the officer who tripped and fell to the street, after which Sergeant Ansell stepped in and attempted to subdue him to the pavement despite being multiple times hit with the weapon.
Police Constable Wolstencroft pulled his stun gun and sought a safe opportunity, bringing the confrontation to an finish.
Sergeant Ansell was heard stating: "Please provide help on my throat here, I got knifed in the neck."
Sgt Ansell sustained two open wounds to his neck and more injuries to his limbs and torso, whereas Sergeant Foster suffered cut injuries.
Officials said Sgt Foster utilized his palms to control his colleague's hemorrhaging prior to medical personnel arrived.
This most recent award follows subsequent to the law enforcement team were granted internal Valor Recognitions in October 2023 and the police federation award from the local Police Federation in spring 2024.
They additionally received a Regional Bravery Award in July 2024.
"The actions of the entire team eventually saved one another and resulted in no civilians suffered any harm."
Brown was given to an indefinite hospital order in spring 2024, per the department.
